Total Knee Replacement Surgery

Knee Replacement surgery is a resurfacing procedure of the knee joint.  When conservative treatment of knee arthritis fails, patients may benefit from a knee replacement.  Just the very edges of the bone are cut and they are "capped" with metal.  A plastic liner called polyethylene goes between the metal to allow the knee to move smoothly.

Partial Knee Replacement Surgery

When the arthritis exists in just one part of the knee, some patients may benefit from a partial knee replacement.  This is a much less invasive procedure with a much quicker recovery, but less patients qualify for a partial than a total knee replacement.  Consult your surgeon to see if you may qualify.
